What is CPT in SSC Exams? CPT refers to Computer Proficiency test. In Staff Selection Commission (SSC) exams, Computer Proficiency Test is carried out to check out a candidate’s ability/proficiency in computer. It is carried out in various SSC exams including CGL, FCI etc. for some of the posts if mentioned. It is mandatory to qualify in Computer Proficiency Test in order to qualify for the post. SSC CPT Exam Pattern Syllabus
SSC FCI CPT EXAM PATTERN In SSC FCI, Computer proficiency test CPT will be held For General, Account, Depot , and Technical cadre. CPT is of qualifying nature. A word processing test and excel test will be be also held for candidates short listed on the basis of paper and paper 2 / paper 3 marks. Minimum qualifying marks in word process may be prescribed by staff selection commission.
SSC CGL CPT Exam Pattern / Syllabus – In SSC CGL exam, Qualifying Computer Proficiency Test is mandatory in the post named Assistants in CSS. Also in SSC FCI exams, it is necessary to qualify in CPT in order to qualify for the post if it is mentioned.
SSC CPT / DEST Exam Date for CGL 2014: The Commission is going to conduct Computer Proficiency Test (CPT)/Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) for the candidates qualified in written part of the Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2014 starting from 15th June, 2015. The Scheme of the CPT/DEST is as under:-

What is SSC DEST Exam

DEST or Data Entry Speed Test is also carried out in CPT test of SSC Exams. DEST involves Typing of 2000 key depressions in 15 minutes. It means typing 2000 keywords in 15 minutes with 95% accuracy.

In SSC DEST exam, For qualifying, the candidate have to type 2000 keywords in 15 minutes and have to make an excel sheet in next 15 minutes. For typing, the candidate is given a 2000 keyword paragraph and the candidate has to complete it within 15 minutes with 95% accuracy.
In CPT exam, The candidate may also have to make a presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint of whom format is given. All these things can easily be done if the candidate is familiar with Microsoft Office and Typing speed.
