Syllabus 2015 – 2016 – PRPB Syllabus and Exam Pattern for Constable Mains Examination.
Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (PRPB) conducts written tests for the posts of constables (Aarakshi aur Samkaksh). Those candidates who had qualified Physical examination will have to appear for this main exam as a part of selection process. UP Police Constable Pre Exam Syllabus & Pattern
The test will be of 300 marks having 4 sections. The time allowed for the exam is 3 hours. These 4 sections and their detailed syllabus is provided below. The syllabus as well as exam pattern is also available in the document given here.

1. General knowledge and Current affairs
(a) General knowledge
History, Culture, Geography, Economics, Indian Constitution, Sports, Literature, Science, Specific
knowledge about Education, Culture and Social Custom of Uttar Pradesh,, Revenue, Police and General Administration System in Uttar Pradesh, Protection of Women and Children, Basics/ Fundamental of Information & Communication Technology, Environmental Studies, Basics of
Language-Hindi Grammar.

(b) Current affairs
Current events of National and International importance, Important Personalities, Appointments,
Prize, Important Places, Main Committees and Commissions, Burning Issues and Disputes, Major Settlements, Judicial Decisions, Books and Authors, Abbreviations, Miscellaneous.

2. (Reasoning Ability)
Analogies, Similarities, Differences, Space visualization, Problem solving, Analysis and Judgement, Decision-making, Visual memory, Discrimination, Observation, Relationship, Concepts, Arithmetical
reasoning, Verbal and figure classification, Arithmetical number series, Abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationships, Arithmetical computations and other analytical functions.

3-Numerical Ability
Number System, Simplification, Decimals and Fraction, common factor and lowest common multiple, Ratio and Proportion, Percentage, Profit and Loss, Discount, Simple interest,
Compound interest, Partnership, Average, Time and
Work, Time and Distance, Use of Tables and Graphs, Mensuration, Miscellaneous.

General AwarenessUP PRPB Constable Written Exam Syllabus for General awareness consists of Indian polity, Indian Administration, Indian Independence Movement, Indian Constitution and Law, Current (National and International) Events, Right to Information, Indian Society, Gender Issues, Basics of Computer Skills and Awareness, Human Rights, Internal Security and Terrorism, Secularism, Environment, General Science, Relations between India and its Neighboring Countries

Mental Ability – Logical Diagrams, Symbol-Relationship Interpretation, Codification, Perception Test, Word formation Test, Letter and number series, Word and alphabet Analogy, Common Sense Test, Letter and number coding, Direction sense Test, Logical interpretation of data, Forcefulness of argument, Determining implied meanings.

4. Comprehension – Question on comprehension passage will be asked from literature, art, science, culture, Social Science, Philosophy, nitishastra, manviki vishay. Questions may be asked from Hindi language paragraph / passage.
